A note about our packaging
Fri 12 Jan 2018

The packing chips we usually use
The packing chips we usually use

Along with many other people, I was shocked at the amount of plastic waste we produce in this country, as revealed in various news stories recently. At The Natural Soap Company, we have always tried to watch our plastic use – at the moment there's not much I can do about the bottles we put our shampoos and shower gels etc in, though the bottles we use are completely recyclable and I am looking into some alternatives. However, our soaps are wrapped in paper, with paper labels and entirely recyclable.

Which brings me on to the ways we send soaps to customers. We use brown cardboard boxes for every order we send out, whether it's a retail or a wholesale order. I have just bought some brown paper FRAGILE tape to use on our wholesale boxes which is recyclable, along with the box, so that we will no longer use plastic Fragile tape to seal our boxes. We have been using brown paper tape on our mail order boxes for over a year.

We want your order to arrive in good condition, and soap is heavy, so we need to put protection in the box. I have been buying packing chips made from 100% non-genetically modified corn starch which are 100% biodegradeable and fully compostable, manufactured from annually renewable sources, for years. Just before Christmas we ran out of these, so I bought, from a different company, some packing chips which I thought were the same. It turns out that I didn't read the description properly and they are NOT recyclable or compostable. I WILL NOT BE BUYING THEM AGAIN! We will use them up as fast as possible and then we will return to our previous packing chips. I know many customers are trying to live without plastic and we want to help in any way we can. I am really sorry if you get some green packing chips in your order instead of the recyclable white ones - I can only aplogise and suggest that if possible you use them as drainage in the bottom of plant pots when you garden this spring, or bag them up and see if there are any small businesses in your area who could use them. Then at least they are being reused.

New Soap Subscriptions
Sun 31 Dec 2017

We're now offering our soaps on a subscription basis.... every month for a year, we'll send you, or the person of your choice, one full-size 110g luxurious handmade soap bar. We'll send only fresh stock and work our way through our range to give you a different experience every time.

Priced at £48 for 12 bars including post & packing, it's convenient, great value and offers a saving over buying the bars individually.

In the bleak mid-winter...
Thr 15 Jan 2015

It's inhospitably cold and windy out at the moment and you'll be lucky to catch either the geese or the sun on a stroll along the North Norfolk coastal path... although it can be done. Our tiny shop on Wells quayside will be open though on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am until 3pm and Anita will doubtless have the heater on. She's also got some of our wonderful christmas special soaps and a few of our hand-made scented candles on offer following the festive season. But if you don't fancy braving the weather, you can, of course, always order on-line on this website from the comfort of your own home.
