In the bleak mid-winter...
Thr 15 Jan 2015

It's inhospitably cold and windy out at the moment and you'll be lucky to catch either the geese or the sun on a stroll along the North Norfolk coastal path... although it can be done. Our tiny shop on Wells quayside will be open though on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am until 3pm and Anita will doubtless have the heater on. She's also got some of our wonderful christmas special soaps and a few of our hand-made scented candles on offer following the festive season. But if you don't fancy braving the weather, you can, of course, always order on-line on this website from the comfort of your own home.

Beautiful scented candles now at the Soap Shop
Wednesday 22 Oct 2014

Beautiful pillar candles are now in stock, made by The Natural Soap Company as a new sideline! They are made from 100% natural soy wax and are an attractive creamy colour. They burn beautifully, and are scented with Christmassy scents, in honour of the upcoming festivities.

No longer all on our own
Fri 30 May 2014

Our little soap shop next to the famous granary building on Wells quay was never particularly hard to find but it was a little out on its own... on the way to the Chandlery and just round the corner from Platten's DIY perhaps but nearly a whole minute's stroll from the town's main shopping area on Staithe Street.

Things have changed with the completion of one of two new buildings on the site of the old Gray's Arcade building that was destroyed by fire in 2005. Quayside Court has three new shops on its ground floor... a wine merchant Cellar-by-the-Quay, a gallery Quayside Gallery and a nautically-themed clothes shop Ship To Shore. They're a bit bigger and fancier than the soap shop but we think they've chosen a good location.

Much the same has happened at our 'factory', the tucked-away industrial unit where we hand make and hand-wrap all of our soap and other goodies, as well... because the old caravan works behind is now home to a brand new CoOp supermarket!

So if you're in Wells, turn right when you get to the bottom of Staithe Stret and discover the town's new shopping quarter!

And if not, well, we'd be pleased as always to take an order off this website and send your soaps out to you.

Well, we're not quite sure what we've got to say as yet but we've cracked and signed up for Twitter and we'll see how it goes. It could be said that we're a bit slow to catch on to these things so we'd just like to point out that we've been making and selling our beautiful soaps on-line via our own website for over 15 years now and are not necessarily as backward as we look. Anyway, if tweets are your thing, follow the link to follow us...

The Soap Shop opening times
21 March 2014

Definitely a sense of Spring in the air at the moment. The Soap Shop will be open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm.

If you're in Wells, do pop in and say hello to Anita and Sue – they'd be delighted to see you – and browse our range of beautiful handmade soaps, toiletries and other bathtime treats.

Prime Minister David Cameron visits the Soap Shop
Mon 9 Dec 2013

Well, not quite.

The Prime Minister made an unannounced and flying visit to Wells today to see some of the flood damage and to talk to the local volunteer flood wardens and lifeboat crew and some of those whose properties have been damaged. And we happened to be stood outside the shop clearing up sandbags and flood defences and trying to make the phone line work properly while he walked past. Both Mr Cameron and local MP Norman Lamb were kind enough to stop and say hello,

We do hope Mr Cameron has time to step inside and try some of our wonderful handmade soap the next time he's passing this way...
